Definitely Superior Art Gallery, 115 Cumberland St. N., Thunder Bay.
Working together with the community is at the heart of our mission, and your support is essential to the success of our endeavours. Every sponsor contributes to shining a light on Northwestern Ontario as a thriving environment, as reflected by the artistic, cultural, and linguistic diversity of our communities.
We are excited to offer your company increased exposure as a thank you for your generosity. With the exhibition being held down the street from the lakeshore, during our most cherished summer days, many local, regional, national, and international visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy the event and get to know its essential supporters.

The project is rooted in a reflection on the space “in between words” and “in between languages”.
This space embodies a “border” (“frontière”) which is inherent to the Francophone environment in Ontario. This space shows up in the diversity of accents and dialects within the Francophonie, and in our relationships with the many other languages around us.

... how could it contribute to overcoming the idea of a language “barrier”?
... how could it foster artistic encounters and social connectedness?
Our goal is to create a new, collective exhibition hosted at Definitely Superior Art Gallery, whilst staying true to our value of “presenting the language as a global contemporary phenomenon, which concerns us all; a contemporary phenomenon so varied, so alive, and fulfilled through art.” We invite members of the collective to create two to three art pieces that explore this topic:
La frontière de la langue. (The language border.)

Connecting local students with the art community
Thanks to a partnership with local association Creaction Collective, local high schools, and funding programs Vice-Versa and ImmersArt, Up’Cycling workshops will encourage young Francophone and French-language aficionados to explore various artistic disciplines and influences along the same theme. Student artwork will be included in the exhibition along with professional work.
Student artwork will also be shown in June during the Franco-Festival, for those who would like to catch a glimpse of the exhibition before the summer break.
